I got an email saying they were going to send out cards soon, so I'm assuming I'm in though I haven't gotten my card yet. I figured with the recent holiday and all the snow the mail might be a bit slow. We'll see, sounds like they have plenty room left.

I checked out the Anime Spark website and got a fun giggle out of their Date Auction page, particularly the rules they have about "Anybody caught doing something stupid relating to the date auction risks being ejected from the convention by Hercule."

Why oh why don't these things have better looking websites? Somebody should get on that.

TOTALLY! Most con sites are horrible, its like... they make tons of money off of booth fees, admission, plus food and swag and auctions and other activities that they should be able to afford a proper web design... as well as paying their staff so they don't rely on volunteers who bail out or do a lousy job.

OMG, I just read the date rules, thats crazy! hahaha. That just sounds awkward and a great way to loose your self esteem. "Who wants to date Jake Rueth? Starting bid $5. Come on folks just $5. Anybody???" :giggle:

lol, well you'd have to go in costume, so they'd be buying a date with your character rather than you. But yeah, huge boost there - date me ... or hit up the dollar menu at McDonalds. mmm ...

I emailed that job ... yesterday? asking for an update and such, they just emailed back saying the HR guy would be getting an update next week from the Art Director who's actually doing the hiring, so hopefully next week or so I might hear something. I refuse to think too hard about it or I will freak myself out.

My internet has been beyond spotty these last few days, so I'm not sure I'll risk the livestream today, but hope it's a blast for you. I think tonight I'm going to say "forget you, internet" and watch old Darker Than Black episodes instead. :)

mmmmm dollar menu *droolz* Hahah!

OH I hope you get some good news about the job soon, that would be awesome!

I've never seen Darker Than Black, how is it? LiveStream was awesome, I went for almost 4 hours, people kept popping in and stuff. It was a blast. I might be doing another Live Stream during the Packer game today.

augh, football. I have way too many coworkers who are all about that crap. I learn far more about it than I ever wanted to, luckily, I'm good at not retaining that information, lol.

I really like Darker Than Black. I tried watching it on Netflix instant ages ago, but since it only the dubbed version was available on instant view, I gave up and said I'd try and find it elsewhere in the original Japanese. I finally got around to seeing an episode or two, and I have to say, I got hooked. It's a neat universe it's set in, I love the premise. The episode structure is a little weird at first, took some getting used to - every story line is broken into two half-hour episodes, and they're all stand-alones, sometimes so standalone that it left me wanting a little more continuity across episodes. A little more mythology, if you will. It's getting some more as it nears the end of the first season. Still, all the episodes were good in my opinion.

I've also decided I actually prefer the English dubbed versions. I went back and forth for a while. I don't normally like the dubbed versions, it always sounds so fake, but I actually really like the English voices. It helps that there are lots of international characters, and in the dubbed version, you get to hear all the different accents. Helps keep it straight, easier to know what government agency they're working for if they have like a British accent, lol. And I just like the acting of the dubbers a little better, for some reason, particularly in a few characters (the main guy, The Black Reaper, and then there's this minor character who plays this like Bogart loving PI - the first episode that introduces him was just hilarious - his character just doesn't work when it's in Japanese.)

Anyway, that was long and rambling. I'd say give it a try. What are some of your favorites? I don't watch as much anime as I sometimes wish because I'm always kind of leery of some of the plot descriptions. I can never tell if I'll like them or not. But I'm always open to suggestions. :)

*highfive* Augh to the football indeed! I'm glad I'm not the only one. My whole family was glued to the football game over the weekend.... I don't understand...

I'll try watching some Darker than Black tonight! I honestly don't watch a whole lot of anime. For going to all these cons one would think I'd have a better knowledge of it all but I don't hahaha. I did like the Ghost in the Shell series, FLCL, and all the Studio Ghibli films. I also really enjoyed this one film called Paprika. SOO GOOD! I don't follow anything current anymore. I just haven't found a good series to immerse myself into. Thanks for the recommendation though, I'll give it a whirl! ;)

Oh yeah, I'm lucky that nobody in my immediate family is into sports. I always feel so bad for my dad when we have a big family gathering, all the menfolk gather to watch the game, spouting off stats and crap like that, while my poor dad sits around bored out of his mind, lol.

I also have a hard time finding the good ones to fall into, all the best ones are the older classics - Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, etc. I also liked the Blood series, though it wasn't a favorite. Full Metal Alchemist is another one that speaks to my steampunk side.

I always look at the Ghost in the Shell ones on Netflix, but I can't get into the dubbed versions. I'm also just not entirely sure what they're about exactly. I might have to add the actual discs to my queue. Paprika is another one that I've been hovering over for a while. I'll have to add them to my list of "to watch."

Augh, there's this one movie I remember watching, I really liked it - what was it called?!? This will so bug me. Help me out internet ... Alright, it's being decidedly less than helpful. It's like got an ancient flying city ... dammit. AHH Laputa: Castle in the Sky. Wow, that would have drove me nuts, lol.

I've been feeling I need to be a little more adventurous with my anime, I think I might have to start watching some of the series I've been wavering over. I'll let you know if I find anymore that I like. :) Oh, let me know what you think of DtB!

YES *HIGHFIVE* CASTLE IN THE SKY!!!! Love that one too! Did you know there is supposedly 2 more Ghibli films coming out this year?? I'm royal pumped!

WOW!!! thanks for the recomendation! I really have enjoyed DtB! I watched some last night and before I knew it 3 episodes were gone and I was like "one more... just one more??? AHHHH I better go to bed" hahaha. I'll be watching more of those soon!

I've heard great things about the Full Metal Alchemist series, but I never got into it, I think I have the first volume on a hard drive somewhere that I never got around to watching yet. I remember really enjoying the Cowboy Bebop movie and another series called Samurai Shamploo or something like that, but its been awhile and I'm not sure if they live up to the awesomeness as they once held.

Definitely check out Paprika, I think you'd like it ;)

HOLY SMOKES we are geeking out and it is wonderful haha!
