Packed up for St Louis... and uh oh... confession.

Journal Entry: Thu Apr 14, 2011, 2:33 PM
OH man... I am so pumped to get on the road and out of WI for the weekend.  I'm actually looking forward to the long boring drive this time.  I got stocked up on some tunes and podcasts, it'll be sweet.  If any of you are going to Anime St. Louis (in Collinsville IL)  please stop by and say "HEY"!

So... this past year, with all the conventions and stuff, I've been wandering into most of the videogame rooms to play some Sonic Spinball on the Sega Genesis.

I must admit...  I LOVE THIS GAME SOOOOOOO MUCH!

I even picked up an old sega genesis so I can play at home.  I'm sorry for not getting new artwork done :(  I really am, but it IS SO ADDICTING!!!!

I might need help...

I hooked up my mother's old Sega last week and have been duking it out on mortal combat for like hours at a time. Do not apologize for enjoying such a super awesome gaming system!

the first step is realizing you have a problem, so the road to recovery is on the horizon! Of course, I can't see that your gaming is the worst addiction you could have, so if your slow going on that road, eh.

I love those long boring drives, though honestly anything more than four hours pushes my limits a bit. I also listen to podcasts to pass the time while driving, they're so fantastic. Like, bam, hour down. They also get me through my work days, lol.

My personal favorites are all based out of Portland, all on the same station. Lots of intermingling of hosts, they're all friends, which is fun.

Cort and Fatboy
Ham-Fisted Radio
SuckIt.fm
Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider

I also listen to the Mediocre Show and Funemployment from time to time, though I'm seriously behind on both.

What do you listen to?

Oh wow, I don't know any of those casts, I do enjoy KEXP and Indie Feed for music, I also love listening to stories like THE MOTH and Pseudopod(horror) and PodCastle(sci fi fantasy). I also sometimes catch Prairie Home Companion because I love the way Garrison Keillor tells a story. NPR's Hearing Voices is also fantastic too. I don't listen to podcasts as much as I'd like, but they are great for passing the time.

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to listen to anything on my roadtrip. I discovered my car had a broken valve stem the night before I was going to leave and didn't want to chance it getting a flat along the way, so I stole my parents car instead. No auxiliary port... no cassette adapter.

I completely forgot how bad the radio sucks. I searched AM stations and FM stations and couldnt settle on anything. I blasted some stuff through my cell phone until the battery died. Not cool. The trip went really well though despite the lack of good audios. ;)

Glad you had a great trip despite your lack of tunage. I understand too well the sadness of radio today, in the old Buick I had up until about a month ago - no port, tape player preferred to eat your tapes rather than play them ... thank god for the cheap little FM transmitter I bought for my iPod or I would never have survived all those years with that car.

I'll have to check out a few of those podcasts you mentioned, the story ones sound interesting.
